Bali Shamanic Retreats

Shamanic-style practice guided by local practitioners — ritual, drum, breath and a week built for going inward.

In short

A shamanic retreat in Bali is deep self-exploration through ritual, stillness and ceremony, usually over seven days and usually in a very small group.

  • Seven days is the usual length
  • Small groups, screened beforehand
  • Ritual and stillness, not substances

What it involves

How the week is built

The pattern the better programmes follow, and the one to look for.

Ritual

Held sessions with a defined beginning and end, not open-ended.

Stillness

Long unstructured stretches. The retreat is not the timetable.

Small group

Usually under ten. Anything larger stops being held.

A word on the word

"Shamanic" is used loosely in Bali, and sometimes as marketing. Ask who the facilitator trained with and where the practice comes from — a real answer arrives quickly.

Vague or grandiose claims about healing are the clearest signal to look elsewhere, and we treat them that way.
