Best Time for a Retreat in Bali

April to October is the short answer. The longer one is about what you are willing to trade.

In short

The dry season, roughly April to October, has lower rainfall and more predictable weather, which is what outdoor practice and ceremony need — and it is also when prices are highest and retreats fill first.

  • Dry season: April to October
  • Peak demand: April to September
  • Rainy season: November to March

What it involves

Three ways to time it

Depending on which of these matters most to you.

For the weather

May, June and September. Dry, and marginally quieter than midsummer.

For the price

February and March. Wetter, cheaper, and rain mostly falls in the afternoon.

For availability

Book six to eight weeks ahead in dry season, less outside it.

The rainy season is not a write-off

Rain here arrives in heavy afternoon bursts rather than settling in for the day, and mornings — when most practice happens — are frequently clear.

What you trade is certainty. If your retreat has outdoor ceremony fixed to a date, come in the dry months.
